The Marriage Encounter Weekend at Emmaus House, Bristol is a residential weekend for married couples, priests and religious .  The weekend starts at 8.oo p.m. on Friday 8th of March and finishes around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday 10th March 2013. High above the busy city of Bristol, in Clifton Village, Emmaus House has  views across the Cumberland Basin to the hills of Dundry.  The house is made up of two adjoining houses dating back to the early 18th  century, though some parts of the house are thought to be even older. For  many years both houses were family homes.  The house remained a family home until 1959 when it became part of La Retraite  High School. Although the School closed in 1982 it remains home to a community of La Retraite sisters.  The community of La Retraite was founded in 1674 in recent years communities have become increasingly involved in a variety of ways to be with people on their spiritual journey.

There is no charge for the weekend beyond the booking fee below, you will simply be asked for a donation, according to your circumstances, to help cover Worldwide Marriage Encounter’s (WWME) costs on the Sunday afternoon.  However, some people are often more comfortable if they have an idea of the actual cost to WWME before committing to a weekend.  The cost to WWME for residential weekends is approximately £375 per couple.  WWME is a charity and are completely dependant on donations.

Please do drop us a line if you have any questions at any time prior to the weekend.

With best wishes,
